The Lorch Company was founded in 1909 by August Lorch, who got his start as a travelling peddler of dry-goods and women’s apparel. In the 1920s, Lester Lorch joined the business and the Lorch Company expanded to include manufacturing to its retail repertoire.
The company was one of the first to join Dallas Apparrel Mart, and grew to be one of the largest women’s clothing companies in the country. They were also insturmental in establishing the Dallas Alice awards.
The business was located at 901 Commerce, which is now a parking structure.
